Service Overview

BREEAM is the World’s leading environmental rating and sustainability assessment tool for buildings, master planning and infrastructure. A BREEAM assessment focuses on sustainable value and efficiency throughout a number of lifecycle stages, including new construction, refurbishment and buildings in-use.

Developed by the Building Research Establishment (BRE), a BREEAM assessment is an internationally-recognised environmental assessment method for the built environment with over 500,000 certificates issued across 77 countries.   BREEAM sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe a building’s environmental performance.

BREEAM assessment has become the preferred environmental assessment method to be included in the Local Development Frameworks of Local Authorities throughout the UK.  A BREEAM assessment is now an essential part of the environmental Core Planning Policies for the development of Non-domestic new construction and major refurbishment for the majority of Local Authorities nationwide.
